FIA settles Mercedes engine controversy, amends 2026 regulations
The FIA has adjusted the 2026 regulations following the alleged Mercedes engine exploitation. The German team reportedly found a way to increase its compression ratio through thermal expansion, an effect only detectable on track where temperatures are far higher than during the FIA's static laboratory tests.
